Ground Modelling

Ground models are built from multiple datasets to develop an informed understanding of the conditions and the forces that affect the site and proposed structures. A good geotechnical engineer steps back to look at the wide problem before diving into detail. At RDCL, we pride ourselves on pragmatic problem solving and real life checking of analytical driven outputs.

Geotechnical ground models capture key design inputs that form part of a larger scope of structural and construction works. Geotechnical models often include settlement, lateral spread, deflection and stability, seismic conditions and ground stresses.

Geotechnical model are built on mapping and fundamental test data combined in an informed way to assess the distribution of geotechnical parameters for design. Analyses may be simple or complex with a first principles approach always applied first. Detailed numerical assessments are made using industry accepted software packages. Outputs must be tested, qualified and quantified and the provided solutions be within the design criteria, budgets and accessibility of the construction contractor.
