If you are doing earthworks for residential development, building a farm dam, developing the “back section”, or even building a subdivision then you must consider the (geotechnical) engineering certifcation of your earthworks.
Engineering certification means that you will (most likely) be able to build on the fills you create, and the effort you put in will pay off. You will make a return on your investment and increase the value of what you do.
Filling without certification means that you will waste the effort you put in. It will cost you money and you will be irrate with the geotechnical consultant who says they will not “sign off” on foundations built on the fill ! And none of us like that.
It’s all about risk. De-risk your job, get certifcation, increase the value of your work.
So, do yourself a favour. Either:
