Word from the Boss

By the end of 2009 our team had multiplied, our skills have expanded and we now have a base in the South Island.  We held a planning and team meeting in February, and it was great to gather and reinforce our culture as a “Special Services” provider.

As a group we confirmed our core business is to deliver outstanding service to our clients in geology and geotechnical engineering.

We rely on performance and team work to deliver a high value product to you the client. The addition of new skills and our continuing improvements in performance as a team means we can now offer more to the mining and infrastructure sectors in New Zealand and abroad.

We have added services in Construction QA and Independent fill testing in Hawke’s Bay and Geological Resource evaluation. A pleasing recent trend is that more clients are recognizing the value of timely geotechnical advice particularly around CPT testing, and we have been able to reduce the overall cost for foundation assessment by better integration into our processes.

And finally, one of the key drivers in setting up RDCL was to keep and attract young NZ professionals in the country.  To do this we have chased projects throughout NZ and overseas in an effort to deliver variety and challenge.  So to finish, I just want to recognise RDCL geologist Giles Potter who is currently on an investigation ship offshore of Western Australia working on a project with UK company Gardline.  He’s providing geotechnical support to CPT and geotechnical logging.

Last word from me

I’m proud to be part of a performance group with a clear vision for performance and adding value to the customer, and a great culture. We look forward to 2010 and working with you all.
