Joy Hoverd
BSc, MSc (First Class Hons), Member NZ Geotechnical Society
Joy Hoverd completed an MSc from the University of Auckland in 2002, graduating with First Class Honours. She is an engineering geologist with 8 years’ industry experience in mine geotechnics, land development (residential and light industrial) and emergency response. Joy is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and the New Zealand Geotechnical Society.
Joy’s current role with RDCL has seen her working on numerous green field projects in the Philippines and Indonesia, helping to develop pre-feasibility through to bankable feasibility studies in geotechnically difficult terrain. Her international experience extends to geotechnical assessments of large open pit developments, underground tunneling, tailings, storage dams, roading and large infrastructure associated with the mining sector. Joy has experience in the engineering of deeply weathered, lateritic soils common in the tropics, hard rock engineering, and management of deep, soft, liquefiable soils. She has extensive knowledge of geotechnical hazard and risk assessments and how to apply these to enable clients to identify and manage risk to projects.
Joy is our Havelock North “Office Manager”, helping to ensure smooth running of this rapidly evolving company. A role that, when in the country, she relishes.
Joy lives in Haumoana with her husband and much loved vege patch.
