RDCL conducted Acoustic Televiewing (ATV) in two 500m deep holes advanced from the developing underground mine. ATV was chosen by the client to identify and understand the orientation of structures that may affect development of the mine.
The scope of the work included:

  • Acoustic televiewer (ATV) data acquisition
  • Data processing and Quality assurance
  • Interpretation of geophysical logs including assessment of geotechnical structures.
  • Interaction with site geotechnical staff

Masbate CPT

CPT investigation for risk assessment of historic tailings dam.  CPT investigations across a large area with varying access constraints due to revegetation and saturated ground conditions.

Scope of work included;

  • Mobilisation of RDCL’s Philippines based Geomil Fox 200 TR CPT rig;  
  • Mobilisation of  New Zealand based staff;
  • Logistics to assess and access all CPT locations utilising site based contracting equipment;
  • CPT testing of 25 CPT locations ranging in depth to 38m deep; and
  • Demobilisation of CPT rig to Manila.

New Mine project, Philippines ($320 million capital project)

Lead geotechnical consultant for the development of new mine including 22km long access road in mountain terrain and residual soils, geotechnical drilling investigations for open pit and underground mines, heavy plant site and accommodation camp and provision of geotechnical design for proposed 240m deep open pit.

Far Southeast Cu Porphyry Project

Geotechnical drilling supervision for 10 rig program to assess deep (top of orebody 800m below surface) Cu block cave target. Conditions include 2000m deep holes, ATV and downhole hydro-logging, artesian water pressures with hole temperatures to 100°C (Complete November 2012).  Key components:

  • Geotechnical supervision of drill rigs, downhole testing and data collection for large underground block cave project.
  • 8 underground + 2 surface drill rigs
  • Acoustic televiewer (ATV) acquisition and interpretation
  • Dowhole flow testing, temperature logging and water pressure testing
  • Database system establishment and management
  • Oriented core logging
