Matt has a background in international finance and banking, and most recently in horticultural operations. Matt’s primary role is to ensure client needs are being met and to improve RDCL internal business systems.  Our business is simple, but our teams are spread and staffing can be complicated.  Mat will look after client and staff needs..

Guy Boaz, Mining Engineer, Underground Coal specialist, Principal (Westport office)

Guy is a Mining Engineer with 20 years’ industry experience.  Guy has worked in underground coal mining on the New Zealand West Coast, South Africa and in Queensland, Australia.  Guy was recently confirmed as a Chartered Professional Engineer practicing in the field of Mining Engineering and a Chartered Professional through the AusIMM system. 

Christchurch office has been strengthened in recognition of our growing workload in CPT investigations in the City, and in the fact that Christchurch is really the most mining centric major center in New Zealand.

Susan Tulloch, Senior Water Scientist, PhD (Christchurch office)

Susan joins our Christchurch operation, allowing us to extend our capabilities into water quality management.  Susan has expertise in Integrated Water Management including; policy development, freshwater availability, and stakeholder consultation. 

David Wright, Engineering Geologist (Christchurch office)

David Wright is an Engineering Geologist and QA/QC and CPT specialist has also joined our Christchurch office in late October.  David is an experienced
operator in geotechnical investigation and analyse and also coal geology.  We look forward to David developing into his new role and improving our client interaction and support.

These brand new tools come with the latest calibration equipment and high-powered density source to maximise data quality, even through steel casing.

Processing is done using the latest version of WellCAD, with in-house geology support available for QA and your interpretation needs.

Acoustic televiewer (ATV) logging is underway in the Philippines in partnership with GXD Supply.  This technology is rapidly emerging as an important analytical tool and we have designed our system in New Zealand to be fully compatible with the ATV tool.

Preferred attributes are:

Graduate Geologist – core logging skills and rig supervision.  Training provided, core skills in basic field procedures preferred.

Resource Estimation Geologist – coal modelling experience required.

Engineering Geologist – 3 to 5 year experience preferred in mining or civil engineering.

Mining Engineers – production and modelling capability preferred.

Hydrogeologist – aquifer test evaluation and groundwater modelling preferred.

Susan Tulloch has been involved with and run her own business, as well as earning a PhD in “water” from Lincoln, most specifically the “social aspects” of water being policy, availability, stakeholder consultation etc.  Susan will help look after the daily functions of the Christchurch office (which is not  onerous given the 3 people we have there now are senior and capable !).  In her spare time, we will be working to leverage Susan into our current projects and develop opportunities for her.

Paul Sykes brings  considerable “contract” investigation experience coupled with a Mining Engineering degree and background in machine tooling.  Geotechnical investigation in the UK is generally done by “SI contractors”, not the “consultant” as is done in NZ.  Paul has worked extensively in geotechnical investigation including time with Fugro in west Africa offshore.  Paul will strengthen the project management aspects of our investigations,  our capacity to undertake “contract” work and help run CPT operations in Christchurch and abroad.
